Bali lies about 2.5 hours flight away from Singapore or the same from Perth in Australia. The capital of Bali is Denpasar, and there are many flights to Denpasar (DPS) from Australia, most European cities, the US West Coast and Japan primarily via Singapore, Hong Kong and Guam (from the US). Several large carriers fly to Bali such as Garuda, Singapore Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Qantas, KLM as well many other large european carriers also fly to Bali. Direct flights from cities in Asia and Australia to Bali are increasingly easy and cheap thanks to the arrival of a number of budget airlines such as Air Asia (Malaysia and Thailand), Valuair (Singapore) and Jetstar & Virgin (Australia & New Zealand). Further afield there are even direct flights from Moscow (with Transaero) and from Japan (with Jalways). Most tickets can be booked over the internet without a problem.
From Denpasar (Bali) Airport follow the airport road out of the airport until you reach a huge roundabout. Take the third exit heading south towards Jimbaran and Nusa Dua. Follow the dual carriage way for a few miles past turn-offs for Jimbaran, until you come to a large junction, where you want to turn right between Kentucky Fried Chicken and McDonalds. Follow this road for a few miles until it comes to an end at a T-junction, where you turn left and go up the hill.
Follow this road up the hill, past the shops and restaurants and GWK – the Balinese Cultural Centre, until you reach a large cross-roads with a statue in the middle of the road at Nirmala Supermarket, where you turn right towards Balangan Beach. Follow this road for about 2 minutes, until you see some large white villas on the right hand side, and a tarmac road off to the right and a sign for Villa Amanie. Follow the tarmac road up the hill, and Villa Amanie is the last villa at the end of a row of villas. If you have called ahead our staff will be waiting there to help you with your luggage and to let you into the villa.
Bali really needs no introduction. It is one of the premier tourist destinations in the world having an amazing combination of spectacular beaches, striking volcanoes, picturesque rice paddies as well as an incredibly rich and vibrant culture and an open and friendly people.
Bali receives thousands of visitors from all over the world every year, and as a result is relatively easy to get to with direct flights from most parts of the world to Denpasar airport, and most things that you would need are readily available including good medical care, and most western goods and services.
The majority of tourists to Bali stay within 30 minutes of the airport either at the huge self-contained 5 star hotels that hug the beach at Nusa Dua or in the heavily touristed areas along Kuta & Legian beach which is the centre in Bali for surfing, shopping and partying.
In the past 20 years visitors have increasingly found their way to Jimbaran, which lies among picturesque rice paddies in the foot hills of the massive volcanoes in the centre of the island. Jimbaran remains to this day the cultural centre for Bali, and while it has in recent years experienced a huge increase in the numbers of visitors, it still retains its relaxed, laid back charm, with great restaurants, fascinating culture and the fantastic rice paddy views that have rightly made it so famous.
